I found the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup at my local health food store and being a particular fan of the peanut butter and chocolate combination I was looking forward to this all natural sweet treat! One of my favorite things to shop for in my health food supermarket is sweet treats that have less of an impact on my diet and offer something pleasant in addition to added health benefits from things such as high protein content.

The Chocolate: Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup

Type of Chocolate: Milk chocolate

Cocoa Content: Unlisted

Best Eaten: With a cold glass of milk

Price: $1.89

The Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup and I were destined to be friends because of the peanut butter and chocolate combination. I do admit to being slightly uneasy about the bee logo, however, thinking the chocolate had honey in it but as it turns out it does not.

Taste:

The Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup comes in a shiny gold foil wrapper with one single cup in the foil pouch. There is no paper wrapper around the chocolate treat at all. The initial scent of the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup  is one of milk chocolate and unsweetened peanut butter. Sweet but not too sweet.

My first bite of the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup yields a thick shell of milk chocolate. The chocolate itself has a slightly waxy texture but little flavor itself as the majority of the flavor in this peanut butter cup can be attributed to the lightly sweetened peanut butter in the center of the cup. The size of the cup itself is deceiving as I expected to find much more peanut butter in the center but as it turns out there is just enough peanut butter to offer uncompromising peanut butter taste. There is a distinct lack of overly processed sugar flavor to this cup but it is particularly satisfying as far as sweet treats go. The only downfall to this cup would have to be the slightly waxy texture to the milk chocolate that carries barely any chocolate flavor at all.

The aftertaste of the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup is one of mild unsweetened peanut butter.

Ingredients:

The ingredients in the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup include: milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk, chocolate liquor, soy lecithin (an emulsifier), vanilla), peanut butter, sea salt.

The Bottom Line:

The Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup is a pleasant chocolate and peanut butter treat if you don’t mind the lack of chocolate flavor. What this treat lacks in flavor, however, it makes up for in natural peanut butter flavoring. If you are a fan of peanut butter that is not jam packed full of sugar then you are going to particularly enjoy the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup.

Overall Rating:

You can purchase the Nectar Nuggets Peanut Butter Cup at your local health food market!

I found Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls at my local health food store a few weekends ago and being that they strike a resemblance to one of my favorite cookies – Love Letters – I couldn’t resist giving these all natural dark chocolate wafer rolls a try.

The Chocolate: Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls

Type of Chocolate: Dark Chocolate

Cocoa Content: 52% Cacao

Best Eaten: With a latte

Price: $1.89/pack

The Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls is a fun way to approach dark chocolate and although it is a particularly light dark chocolate, it still carries a slightly darker flavor.

Taste:

The Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls come in a small plastic tray that holds two wafer rolls. The plastic tray is wrapped inside a thick plastic wrapper that is brightly colored and decorated with a large image of the wafer rolls inside the pack. The initial scent of the Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls is one of a lighter and much less bitter dark chocolate.

My first bite of the Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls yields a light coating of a heavy dark chocolate that coats a crisp and airy wafer which is, in turn, generously filled with a dark chocolate cream. The dark chocolate within the wafer puts me in mind of Nutella as far as texture goes although it lacks that hazelnut undertone. The dark chocolate coating is thin, however, even while containing a lower percentage of cacao than many other dark chocolates it maintains a deep chocolate flavor while managing to avoid the earthy bitterness that comes with many dark chocolates. The light vanilla wafer within the chocolate provides very little flavor but the crunch that it brings to the over all texture of this wafer roll is particularly pleasing.

The aftertaste of the Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls is a slightly sickly one of the thick chocolate cream contained within the wafers, more milky than dark chocolate with a sugary milky highlight.

Ingredients:

The ingredients in the Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls include: Dark Chocolate (Sugar, Alkalized Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Natural Vanilla), Wafer (Enriched Wheat Flour [with Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid], Sugar, Soy Flour, Molasses, Malted Barley Flour, Non-hydrogenated Peanut Oil, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Caramel Color), Sugar, Non-hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Non-hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder, Non-Fat Milk Powder, Cornstarch, Natural Vanilla.

The Bottom Line:

The Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls make a delicious treat. The balance of chocolate flavor may be skewed towards the sweeter wafer roll filling rather than the darker wafer coating yet the taste is still pleasurable albeit slightly sickly. These decadent wafer roll cookies are certain to make any chocolate lover swoon, the only real drawback aside from that sickly sweet aftertaste is the price and the fact that these cookies don’t come in a larger box!

Overall Rating:

You can purchase Q.Bel All Natural Dark Chocolate Wafer Rolls at your local Whole Foods or by locating your nearest local retailer here!
