White Chocolate

I received the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie in a sample box of twelve Fairytale Brownies in order that I could fairly review them. I have never actually eaten a white chocolate topped brownie before, in fact I have never eaten a brownie that incorporated white chocolate before but this one looked particularly delicious and I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

The Chocolate: Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie

Type of Chocolate: Dark Callebaut Belgian chocolate and white chocolate

Cocoa Content: Unlisted

Best Eaten: With a tall glass of milk

Price: Varies

The sheer selection of Fairytale Brownies variety of flavors is almost overwhelming but this particular brownie jumped out at me with it’s inclusion of one of my favorite treats – white chocolate.

Taste:

The Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie is a beautifully decorated brownie with the same moist brownie base as yesterday’s Toffee Crunch Fairytale Brownie and a generous drizzle of beautiful white chocolate across the top. The initial scent of the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie is a decadent sweet cocoa base with very little interference from other ingredients.

As I take my first bite of the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie the white chocolate drizzle cracks ever so slightly and the muted crunch continues as I chew the moist chocolaty brownie. The crunch of the white chocolate is very pleasant as far as texture but I am afraid the actual white chocolate taste is lost to the deep cocoa flavor of the brownie base. The lack of white chocolate flavor could perhaps be remedied with white chocolate chips within the brownie itself, however, this may result in a product that is much too sweet. The moist brownie base is just as perfect as it was in yesterday’s Toffee Crunch brownie, it simply hums with the deep warm cocoa flavor and leaves a nice chocolate coating throughout my mouth. The lack of overly sweet toffee in the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie leaves a much more pleasing final brownie product and the richness is greatly reduced to the point where a larger serving is certainly a possibility.

The after taste of the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie is still rather a sticky and sweet cocoa flavor but far less rich than the Toffee Crunch brownie and perfectly tempered with a glass of milk.

Ingredients:

The ingredients in the Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie include: sugar, butter (milk), eggs, white chocolate chips (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, skim milk powder, nutteroil (milk), soy lecithin, vanilla extract), unsweetened Belgian chocolate, flour (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), canola oil, baking powder (calcium acid phosphate, bicarbonate of soda, cornstarch).

The Bottom Line:

The Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownie is a lot less rich than it’s Toffee Crunch sibling and consequently more can be eaten per serving and, let’s face it, who doesn’t like more brownie? The taste is still sweet and contains a deep rich cocoa flavor which one expects from a brownie but overall the balance is nicely done. The only thing missing from this one is the real flavor of white chocolate which seems to be overpowered by the cocoa flavor of the brownie.

Overall Rating:

You can order Fairytale Brownies White Chocolate Brownies from the Fairytale Brownies website in a combination of flavors or a sample box of one of each Fairytale Brownie flavors.

I received the Taste Cookies White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie in a sample box of Taste Cookies in order that I could fairly review them. As you might remember I featured Taste Cookies on Follower Friday on April 3rd and Kori was nice enough to send me a delightful box packed full of Taste Cookies to review. While a couple of the cookies weren’t chocolate based I did pick each of the chocolate goodies out for review and will be sharing them with you this week!

The Chocolate: Taste Cookies White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries

Type of Chocolate: White chocolate

Cocoa Content: Unlisted

Best Eaten: With a tall glass of milk

Price: $9.95 / 6-pack

Taste Cookies are not your ordinary cookie…well more to the point, they are. Forget the flat, greasy Mrs. Fields or the calorie laden bulk produced grocery store brands these cookies are the cookies you want to make at home but just can’t find the time for.

Taste:

The Taste Cookies White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie comes in a clear heat sealed cello wrapper and still has ice cream scoop ridges on the final product. This particular cookie has a scent of delicious and tart dried cherries with a slight undertone of sweetness from the white chocolate chunks.

As I take my first bite of the White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie I can’t help but notice the clumsy shape that is rather hard to bite without slight discomfort. The cookie is hard but not the kind of hard one associates with grandma’s scones but the type of hard that one associates with a good solid cookie (not all of us like those flimsy Frisbee shaped things.) The immediate taste is that of a tart cherry and a deep buttery cookie batter. The highlight of the cherry tartness compliments the deep golden tone of the buttery cookie. Biting in to a section of cookie with both white chocolate, macadamia and cherry the real nuttiness of the macadamia comes in the lead followed by the sugary sweetness of the white chocolate and finally the pop of the tart cherry brings up the rear followed again by the small pieces of macadamia nut that remain in my teeth. The overall taste of this cookie is particularly pleasant for the white chocolate lover but may be perhaps a little too sweet for dark chocolate lovers.

The after taste of the White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie is a sugary sweet taste of white chocolate.

Ingredients:

The ingredients in the White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie are not currently available.

The Bottom Line:

The White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookie is one of my particular favorite cookie combinations and Taste Cookies has done it rather well. There is a significant sweetness to this cookie so it is not going to appeal to everyone but for white chocolate lovers it is a must.

Overall Rating:

You can order White Chocolate, Macadamia Nut with Dried Cherries cookies from the Taste Cookies website.
