A Week In Chocolate 10/17/10

This week in chocolate news brings a chocolate wager between Pelosi and Specter, a reminder that chocolate can be harmful to pets over Halloween, Operation chocolate chip cookie, and a new line of chocolate to benefit Shriners childrens hospital.

Firstly this week Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Arlen Specter have wagered on the Philadelphia Phillies playoffs and the winner gets chocolate! Pelosi is offering San Francisco’s Ghirardelli chocolate and Specter is offering Pennsylvania’s Hershey’s chocolate.

Next this week in chocolate news brings a reminder about the dangers of the abundant chocolate during the Halloween season to pets! It is important to keep all Halloween chocolate out of the reach of all pets during the holiday season!

Next this week in chocolate news brings light to Operation Chocolate Chip Cookie, an effort to send chocolate chip cookies to American troops overseas in Afghanistan. Based out of New London the efforts to send chocolate chip cookies to troops overseas are being made in the honor of Clark, a fallen soldier of the area.

Lastly this week a new line of chocolate has been created in order to benefit the Shriner’s children’s hospital. 20% of all sales of Dreams Chocolate made by the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company will be donated to the Saint Louis branch of Shriners’s hospital for children.

A Week In Chocolate 10/10/10

This week in chocolate news the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory brings a self serve yogurt company to life, the original Hershey chocolate factory is set to close and children in West Africa are still being exploited in the chocolate production process.

Firstly this week in chocolate news the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has announced its newest venture, a self serve yogurt bar named Aspen Leaf Yogurt, Inc. This self serve yogurt concept is not particularly new to the market but being backed by such a recognized name in chocolate should assure this new venture relative success.

Next this week in chocolate news the original Hershey chocolate factory is set to close its doors and move to a different production facility located just outside of town. The older Hershey factory is being closed down and jobs are being cut so that Hershey can afford upgrades in their new facility and keep their prices competitive.

Lastly this week in chocolate news a recent report reveals that west Africa is still trafficking children and utilizing child labor to boost the cocoa industry. Despite a 2001 contract that was signed by the cocoa industry to eliminate the use of child labor in chocolate production west Africa has yet to eliminate its use of child labor on their cacao farms.
